"From the looks of Jason Watts's recent paintings and gouaches at Eklektikos Gallery, the Chicago artist isn't much of a walker. Instead, he has a serious crush on transportation: Airplanes, automobiles, subway trains and highways' butterfly interchanges figure into almost every painting. Many canvases host more than one alternative to hoofing it. In these urban fantasias, perspective gets jumbled as highways pour cars into clogged cities and subway trains snake around cartoonish buildings that buckle and sway to some inaudible beat. Even the folks who live here look jazzy."
