Parking Garage (Diptych,)

This Oil on canvas is a reference to the car based society we live in. The parking garage is a reference I have used in several pieces.... I find it an interesting building type- a place to keep our cars. Also the piece incorporates clearly older style buildings being replaced by the new..... I've used a previous painting which was unrealized and painted over to create this composition. In that way the painting represents change for better or worse- progress with all of its challenges and environmental concerns. The city of Chicago is full of construction cranes- I like the way the arm of the crane bridges both panels- there is a strength and balance in both panels that come together to make the singular composition.
